How to know if your toilet has a slow leak:
- Get some food coloring.
- Lift the lid off the toilet tank – careful, it’s both heavy and fragile!
- Drip just enough drops into the tank water you can see the color.
- Look in the bowl – if you see color, you’ve got a slow leak.
If no color has come through after a minute or two, sorry, no free flapper for you – your toilet isn’t leaking! (that’s good news, by the way)
Go ahead flush the toilet to get most of the color out of the tank so you don’t surprise and confuse the next person.
